Chivas USA announced today the signing of youth team player Bryan de la Fuente as a Home Grown Player. De la Fuente, a midfielder, began his career in the youth ranks of Chivas de Guadalajara before moving to Chivas USA, where he has been part of the youth system there for three years.
The signing of de la Fuente is Chivas USA's fourth from its youth system. The others are Carlos Borja, Jorge Flores and Gerson Mayén, the latter currently on loan at Miami FC.
“I’m thrilled because this is a goal that I’ve had for a long time,” said de la Fuente. “I had hoped this would happen from my first day in the [Chivas USA] academy, and now that dream has come true.”
De la Fuente was born near Los Angeles but lived in Mexico for most of his childhood before joining the Chivas USA U-16 youth team. He has represented the United States U-20 national team and participated their victorious run in this year's prestigious Milk Cup.
