Earthquakes Sign Former Hull Attacker Geovanni As Designated Player

The Brazilian will play for the Western Conference team.

The San Jose Earthquakes announced the signing of Brazilian attacking midfielder Geovanni on Monday afternoon. He will become the team's first ever designated player.

At 30 years old, the former Hull City player becomes one of the youngest DP in Major League Soccer, though terms of the deal were not disclosed. Besides playing for Hull, Geovanni has also spent time with Manchester City, Benfica and FC Barcelona, three massive clubs in their own right.

He's also able to play in various forward positions and should be available for the Quakes game against the New York Red Bulls on August 28th at Red Bull Arena.
