Landon Donovan Relishing MLS All-Stars Match Against Manchester United
LA Galaxy star looking forward to Red Devils test.
By Danny Hart
LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan is relishing the MLS All-Stars' clash with Manchester United - which kicks off in Houston at 19:30 on Wednesday evening, CDT (01:30 on Thursday morning, UK time).
The USA international has been included in the squad despite playing for his club in a Champions League match against PR Islanders 24 hours before the game.
And Donovan insists he will not let fatigue spoil the game for him.
"All-Star games are always special," he told Manchester United’s official website. "I’m excited to play against Manchester United, even though I won’t get to play too much.
"The minute I found out about this game, I was ecstatic. When I found out we were playing in the Champions League the night before I was a little bummed out."
Donovan has been a regular name in the MLS All-Stars teams in the past and hopes to show how much the League has improved.
He said: "Over the years we’ve had incredible experiences with some of the teams we’ve played.
"This one tops them all. It’s going to be a fun night. It's not only an opportunity individually for guys to do well, but for our league to show the strides we’ve made.
"We take this game very seriously and we have a really good group of players that can play with any teams in the world. I expect it to be a fun, competitive, and exciting game. People are paying good money, we want to give them a good show."
