MLS All-Star First XI Announced Featuring Landon Donovan

Major League Soccer announced the first 11 players on the All-Star team to face Manchester United July 28 in Houston.

Spearheaded by United States and Los Angeles Galaxy star Landon Donovan, who has made the All-Star team in each of his 10 years in MLS, the team features four Galaxy members. Los Angeles is running away with the league with 36 points out of 16 games, an six point lead on the closest team, reigning champions Real Salt Lake.

Next best represented is  Salt Lake, with three players on the First XI. The team hasn't lost in 10 games and is hitting its stride nearing the middle of the season.

With the first 11 players voted on by fans,  media, players, coaches and general managers, the rest of the roster will be selected by Galaxy coach Bruce Arena, who will manage the All-Star team, and MLS commissioner Don Garber. Those selections will be announced Monday, July 19.

The final 23-man roster will face English giants Manchester United in Houston's Reliant Stadium on Wednesday, July 28.
