Goal.com MLS Rankings: Week 15
Change sweeps through the lower reaches of this week's Goal.com MLS Rankings.
1. Los Angeles – Even the front runners take nights off from time to time. (1)
2. Real Salt Lake – This RSL side may play pretty football most of the time, but it possesses the defensive foundation required to grind out results. Case in point: Thursday's victory at Chicago. (2)
3. Columbus – The Crew can thank a friendly post and a shocking miss from Brian Ching for its point at Robertson Stadium. (3)
4. New York – Maybe Thierry Henry can add a little bit of nous to the Red Bulls' attack. (4)
5. FC Dallas – FCD will pass teams to death, particularly when the opposition finds itself down to ten men. Once the beleaguered defenders finally yield, David Ferreira does the rest. (5)
6. Toronto FC – Gritty win over Colorado without Julian de Guzman. Preki's teams always seem to find a way to put up results. (7)
7. San Jose – Arturo Alvarez sure knows how to throw a sucker punch. (8)
8. Colorado – More Claudio Lopez, please. (6)
9. Chicago – The Fire hasn't quite kicked its pesky habit of throwing away points at Toyota Park. (9)
10. Houston – The Dynamo's third draw in as many outings yielded the most satisfaction for one reason: the defense banked its first shutout since May 22. (10)
11. Seattle – There's a little bit too much smoke around Freddie Ljungberg right now. Will the former Arsenal man move during the window? It's tough to rule out after a rather sudden ankle injury kept the former Sweden international out of Sunday's 1-1 draw with FC Dallas. Never take a slight injury to a prominent player at face value when the transfer window beckons. (13)
12. D.C. United – No one should expect Branko Boskovic and Pablo Hernandez to come in and save United's season. Right now, the current assortment of players isn't faring too poorly at the same task. (12)
13. Chivas USA – Justin Braun may have had some help to set up his brace at the weekend, but he finished his opportunities well. (14)
14. New England – Credit the Revs for taking the initiative to the Galaxy and making the visitors pay for their lackluster effort. (16)
15. Philadelphia – While Peter Nowak will take heart from the performance against San Jose, he won't find much solace in the points thrown away. (11)
16. Kansas City – If a scoreless first half at home against Chivas USA is the best half of soccer the Wizards have played all year, then something is quite rotten in Kansas right now. (15)
