Freddie Ljungberg, Nate Jaqua and head coach Sigi Schmid comment on their Open Cup win and FC DallasSEATTLE, Wash. – Seattle Sounders FC returns to Qwest Field to play its first MLS home match in over a month on Sunday. With the season slipping away quickly, Seattle is in the midst of a three-game MLS losing streak ahead of the clash against FC Dallas.
The club did tasted victory in Wednesday’s U.S. Open Cup game against the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Sounders beat their Western Conference rivals 2-0 to move into the semi-finals and keep their hopes alive for a second consecutive Open Cup championship. Forward Nate Jaqua, who sat out most of the season with a groin injury, accounted for both tallies in the win over the Galaxy. He’s notched three goals in two Open Cup matches.
Midfielder Freddie Ljungberg and head coach Sigi Schmid hope the Raven Green can use these non-MLS wins to salvage the Sounders’ season and jumpstart a playoff drive.
