When your team smashes five goals past the opposition, someone is doing something right. In this case, Alvaro Saborio led the charge of Real Salt Lake in the domination of the New England Revolution.
The 5-0 home victory was one goal shy of the record Salt Lake posted against the Revs in the same fixture last year. The Costa Rican striker made up for missing last year's shebang by notching a brace this time around.
"He has turned his game on, and with a lethal finisher, RSL can make a run at the title again," Max Zeger said.
The two goals take Saborio's total to seven overall, good for fourth in the league. With Robbie Findley away on international duty, Saborio has largely carried the finishing burden for Salt Lake this season.
"The RSL striker may have been aided by the shambolic defending of the New England Revolution, but another two goals by Alvaro Saborio should cement his place on the roster taking on Manchester United in the All Star game," New York correspondent Avery Raimondo said.
Of course, three other RSL players scored in the rout, aided by some sleek assists.
"You're never going to see a defender give two better assists than Robbie Russell had this week," youth editor J.R. Eskilson mentioned.
