CARSON, Calif. -- For all the buster of the name that Boca Juniors carry, neither Boca or the Los Angeles Galaxy put too much stock in the international friendly between the two clubs. Los Angeles won 1-0.

The Galaxy squad were victims of fatigue, having played Thursday night in a victory against FC Dallas and the night tested the team's depth.

"This [was] an exhibition we didn't need," said head coach Bruce Arena. "We have a lot of injuries, obviously some fatigue. So, to get through today without an injury is good. Some guys needed the minutes."

Sean Franklin, Eddie Lewis, Clint Mathis and Brazilian Alex Cazumba were figures coming back from injury and getting some much needed play time.

"A lot of the players [who] haven't necessarily played a lot got to play tonight, and we got a result out of it," said Galaxy keeper Josh Saunders.

The goalkeeper went face-to-face with 13 shots from the opposition and stopped all 13 to give LA the clean sheet.

"Saunders was outstanding," Arena said, praising his goalie's performance.

Saunders looked not like a backup, but rather a keeper who's been playing all season long. With two shutouts so far, including this friendly, Saunders shared the secret to his success thus far. "[I go] in with a good mentality. You never know when your number's going to be called. Week in week out I train like I'll be playing."

Boca Juniors are amongst the cream of the crop in South American soccer. They are world renowned and have a laundry list of honors and awards. Yet the Galaxy squad, despite not having Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan at their disposal, came up victorious.

"Boca is a powerhouse in South American soccer," said goal-scorer Tristan Bowen. "Being able to get two wins without Edson [Buddle] and LD [Landon Donovan] is tremendous and it helps boost our confidence."

The Galaxy now head to Ohio and challenge the Crew in a Saturday night face off. Meanwhile, the Argentine club continue their American campaign and travel up the Pacific northwest to clash with the Seattle Sounders Wednesday night.
