Dario Delgado will join the Goats.
By Zac Lee Rigg
Chivas USA dished away a conditional 2012 draft pick to Real Salt Lake, which held the discovory rights to Dario Delgado, for the Costa Rican defender, the club announced today. Delgado will join on loan from Puntarenas FC.
"I am pleased to welcome Darío to our club," said Chivas USA head coach Martín Vásquez. "He is a young, talented central defender who gives us both depth and options with our back line. We’ve had our eye on him for a while and we’re glad he is finally here."
The 24-year-old has five caps for the Costa Rican national team. His arrival could signal a return to the left fullback position for U.S. international Jonathan Bornstein, who shifted to a more central role with a lack of options this year.
Chivas USA has lost both of its 2010 MLS games, against the Colorado Rapids and the Los Angeles Galaxy, and welcome the New York Red Bulls to the Home Depot Center on Saturday in the search of the season's first points.
