Landon Donovan 'Devastated' For Injured LA Galaxy Teammate David Beckham
Icon's absence could be major blow for MLS outfit.
By Zack Wilson
Los Angeles Galaxy forward Landon Donovan has offered sympathy to team-mate David Beckham, after the England international underwent surgery on his torn Achilles tendon this week.
Beckham sustained the injury playing for AC Milan, where he was on loan from Galaxy, against Chievo at the weekend.
Donovan has just completed his own European loan spell, at Everton, and he felt Beckham's absence was a blow both on and off the field to the Galaxy.
"First and foremost, we are devastated for David," Donovan said according to Press Association Sport.
"Those of us in the locker room know how much it meant to him to give himself a chance to play in the World Cup. Now that is gone."
Donovan's USA side meet England in Group C of the World Cup this summer on June 12.
