Chivas USA midfielder Sasha Victorine has decided to retire from Major League Soccer after a 10-year career in the league, citing longstanding injury concerns.
“I’d like to thank all of my teammates that I’ve played with over the years, and all of the fans who have given me their support,” said Victorine in a press release. “Growing up in Orange County, I feel lucky that I was able to play in front of my home fans for so much of my career. I am now eager to start the next phase of my career.”
Victorine, 32, spent the first five years of his career with the Los Angeles Galaxy, playing 121 matches and scoring 17 goals. He then moved on to the Kansas City Wizards where he made 106 appearances netting another 12 goals. His stint with Chivas was a bit shorter as he only took the field 12 times and was able to score two goals.
A native of Santa Ana, California, Victorine has also been capped by the USA on four occasions between 2000-2003 and notched one goal for his country.
Victorine will return to Kansas City to work in their front office.
