Report: Gil Allocated To Wizards, RSL Lands Williams

Two young players land with certain MLS teams -- for now.

According to the sources in MLS who confirmed the move to Goal.com, young phenom Luis Gill has been allocated to the Kansas City Wizards, who won a lottery for the player's rights. The 16 year old player has been a standout of the USA U17 national team.

However, Gil, a midfielder, reportedly prefers to play for either of two Western Conference teams, Real Salt Lake or the Seattle Sounders.

In a move that may be related, the Boston Globe is reporting that promising U20 defender Sheanon Williams has signed with Real Salt Lake, which could use the defender as trade bait with the Wizards.

The defending MLS champions, which are based in Utah, have a relatively young squad that is expected to contend again for the title.

The league has at times taken a hard line with players who wanted to move to certain clubs.

For example, Danny Szetela did not remain in New York, but moved to Columbus, Ohio, while Charlie Davies chose to play abroad when the league would not accede to his request to play with the New England Revolution.
