Seattle Complete Outright Signing Of Hurtado

Jhon Kennedy Hurtado made his move to Seattle permanent.
Seattle Sounders FC confirmed today that the club has completed the transfer of Jhon Kennedy Hurtado. The Colombian centerback spent 2009 on loan from Deportivo Cali, but is now owned outright by the MLS side.

In other Seattle personnel moves, midfielder Brad Evans signed a contract extension and Tyson Wahl re-signed with last year's expansion club.

“Jhon Kennedy was a very strong performer for us during our first season and with his permanent transfer we are able to assure our nucleus remains intact,” said general manager Adrian Hanauer. “Together with our agreements with Brad and Tyson, this further prepares us to go forward in establishing Sounders FC as a championship contender within MLS and the region.”

Hurtado provided a powerful presence in the heart of the Seattle defense, earning a slot on the 2009 MLS All-Star team and finishing as a finalist for the Defender of the Year award.
