Toronto Sells Out Season Tickets; Parts With Three
Toronto FC sold out its season tickets for next year as well as neglected to pick up the option on three players.
Toronto FC announced today that it sold out its allotment of season tickets for the upcoming 2010 Major League Soccer season. With a 95% renewal rate, only 200 new season ticket holders make up the 16,000 total.
This marks the third year running TFC and its rabid fanbase has sold out its season ticket allotment.
"As we head into our fourth season, we continue to be amazed at the support of our fans," said senior director of business operations Paul Beirne. "It's early, but there's already a lot of excitement building for 2010, and we always enjoy welcoming new fans to BMO Field."
Those fans in BMO Field next season won't see three players who featured last year, as Toronto didn't pick up the options on Pablo Vitti, Lesly Fellinga, and Amado Guevara. As previously reported, Guevara returned to his native Honduras, for the second time forced out of the United States by coach Preki, after the two previously clashed at Chivas USA.
"After sitting with Preki and the rest of the coaching staff, we have decided this is the direction the club would like to go," said director of soccer Mo Johnston. "This leaves all players free to negotiate new deals with other clubs outside of MLS. We wish them all the best of luck in the future."
