David Moyes Tight-Lipped On Landon Donovan Transfer Talk
Toffees face competition for USA star.
Everton face stiff competition from a number of clubs to sign USA international Landon Donovan on a short-term loan with David Moyes admitting today that negotiations are taking place with the striker.
Any deal would be a near-replica of David Beckham's loan move to AC Milan but it is not certain that 27-year-old Donovan will be moving to Goodison Park.
"I can't tell you too much just now because we are just finalizing things but I think we will be able to confirm it one way or another in the next week or two," Moyes told a press conference.
"I'd rather talk about him in a couple of weeks and not at this present time in case I don't get him."
LA Galaxy have said the Merseysiders are not the only club interested in the 27-year-old.
"We are aware of Everton's interest in Landon Donovan as they are one of a number of clubs who have contacted the Galaxy about the possibility of a short-term loan agreement," said an LA Galaxy statement.
"The Galaxy, MLS and Landon's representative will work together to determine if and whether an arrangement with Everton or any other club would be beneficial to all parties."
