VIDEO: MLS Commissioner Headlines Supporters Summit In Seattle
In his speech, Don Garber validated the influence and the need to work with the league’s supporters group.
SEATTLE, Wash. -- The MLS Commissioner held court at the 2009 Supporters Group Summit held this weekend prior to the MLS Cup. The event provides a forum for attendees to celebrate soccer and an opportunity to interact with league officials and provide feedback to improve MLS.
"The future of our league is going to be built around our supporters groups," Garber said in his keynote speech earlier this morning.
He went on to provide an update on soccer-specific stadiums and expansion plans for the next several years, including reserving a 20th franchise that could be owned by David Beckham.
Drew Carey and Garber then held a Q&A session to respond to queries submitted via the Internet and from audience members.
