MLS Playoffs: Overheard, Real Salt Lake And Los Angeles Galaxy

Goal.com has the latest from key participants in the championship final of Major League Soccer.

LA Galaxy's Chris Klein on the weather forecast in Seattle:

DC won in the rain (in the 1996 MLS Cup), so it'll be a good, rain-soaked celebration.

Klein on whether RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando is in similar form to Tony Meola in 2000, when Kansas City won it all:

In 2000, Tony was playing as well as any goalkeeper I'd ever seen. Nick's been playing well, but in 2000, the run that Tony was on was pretty special. Nick's playing very well. I won't take anything away from him, but I don't see the similarities there.

Real Salt Lake midfielder Andy Williams on cribbing extra playoff tickets from countryman Donovan Ricketts, LA Galaxy goalkeeper:

He’s from Jamaica. He just came up here, so I know he doesn’t need his tickets in Seattle so I already asked him for them, but I think Tyrone Marshall beat me to it.

More Williams on Ricketts:

We’ve been in contact on Facebook, texting on the phone, throughout the playoffs. He’s been wishing me luck and I’ve been wishing him luck. It’s kind of funny that we’re both meeting up at the final this Sunday
.

Galaxy coach Bruce Arena on whether midfielder Dema Kovalenko is a liability on the field:

You're making a mountain out of a molehill. He's been a very disciplined player this year, after his initial red card. I'm not concerned about his lack of discipline.

Galaxy forward Edson Buddle, on making the MLS championship final for the first time after eight years in the league:

You shoot for the finals every year and to finally get there feels good.

Buddle
on playing the final on artificial turf, a surface he has admitted he dislikes:

Going into a game like this on turf, you just have to be happy, you can't let it bother you.

Real Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis, commenting on his team's run of form that gave him hope:

The way we were playing more importantly than the results was telling me that we were headed in the right direction.
