thumbnail Hello,

Both teams are very close to a playoff berth, but the Galaxy eked out a winning homestand when the Fire could not finish the chances they created.

CARSON, Calif. - The two teams lined up against each other knowing that Major League Soccer's playoffs could likely be reached with a win.

In 2007, it was the Chicago Fire's win over Los Angeles that eliminated the Galaxy from the playoffs late in the season.

This time, the Galaxy took a measure of revenge, collecting the full points from the Fire and denying Chicago the comfort of an easier arrival to the post-season.

Both teams are likely to make the MLS postseason, but there was no love lost on a night when the two sides scrapped desperately for points.

Los Angeles coach Bruce Arena was pleased with the victory, yet somber at how many opportunities the Fire had to snatch away the result with a late equalizer that never materialized.

Chicago Fire coach Denis Hamlett, meanwhile, was bitterly disappointed that his players could not finish even one of the chances they created against the Galaxy.

Watch the video below to see the take the leaders of both squads had on the game.
