Player Ratings: DC United v Seattle Sounders

Player Ratings - US Open Cup final Seattle Sounders versus DC United, 2-1

Seattle Sounders FC:

Kasey Keller: 6 – Was not called upon to make many difficult saves, but was solid throughout. Nothing could have been done about the goal.

James Riley: 7 – Made several crucial tackles, and shut down United’s left flank all night.

Tyson Wahl: 5 – Alongside Ianni, shut down most of United’s attacks through the middle

Patrick Ianni: 6 – Again, limited United through the middle of the field

Leo Gonzalez: 5 – Was caught out several times on United’s right, but made up for it with several good plays

Freddie Ljungberg: 6 – Delivery from set pieces was missing, but he was the engine for Seattle’s attack. Also forced the first goal

Osvaldo Alonso: 5 – Was unable to ever control the midfield, but did his job in stopping the United attacks

Peter Vagenas: 4 – Beat several times by the dribble and the pass, but was saved by Alonso

Steve Zakuani: 6 – Caused problems for United’s right side, and had a couple of good crosses in the first half

Fredy Montero: 7 – The man of the match. Could have been higher if he finished off his chances in  the first half, but was a constant menace for United’s defense, and scored the vital first goal


Sebastian Le Toux: 7 – Dangerous with several passes, and assisted on the second goal

Subs:

Brad Evans: 5 – Did not have to do much, but helped the defense late on in the game

Roger Levesque: 6 – Came on looking to kill off the game, but ending up scoring the winning goal

D.C. United

Josh Wicks: 4 – Had the game ended with just the one goal, and Wicks on the field, this would have been higher. But his foolish red card ended up costing United the match

Marc Burch: 4 – Struggled against the Seattle attack, and his set pieces were off

Dejan Jakovic: 4 – Did admirably against Montero, but in the end, was accountable for both goals scored by Seattle

Bryan Namoff: 5 – Did well defensively, especially against the speedier Zakuani. But was unable to push up as much because of his defensive duties.

Fred: 3 – Came off at halftime, after countless turnovers in the first half led to Seattle counter attacks

Christian Gomez: 5 – Had some success running at the Seattle defense, but his shooting let him down all night.

Ben Olsen: 5 – Helped control the midfield, but could not aid much going forward, with Seattle’s ability to release on the counter attack

Clyde Simms: 6 – With his help, United controlled the middle of the field for the most part. And in the end, he added the goal for United.

Chris Pontius: 5 – Had a couple of dangerous moments, but was never able to fully make an impact

Luciano Emilio: 4 – Never really got involved for United, and when he had a decent chance, his effort was straight at Keller

Jaime Moreno: 5 – Pushed on and on throughout the match, but the Moreno magic was no where to be found.

Subs:

Santino Quaranta: 5 – Helped improve on the first half performance with his ability to hold possession. Had several dangerous crosses, and his free kick resulted in the goal for United

Milos Kocic: 5 – Came on after Wicks was sent off, but had little to do, except for pick the ball out of the net. His defense let him down on the goal.

Rodney Wallace: 5 – Had little chance to have an impact on the game
