VIDEO: Beckham Speaks On Winning Goal Versus Chivas USA
The Galaxy midfielder made sure his first goal in league action was a good one, scoring the winning goal versus Chivas USA.
CARSON, Calif. - David Beckham broke open a tight derby match between Chivas USA and the Los Angeles Galaxy by pouncing on an attempted clearance and deftly scoring the winning goal.
The Galaxy player admitted that his side had not started the match well, but they improved as the game went on.
Beckham had been booed after his loan spell at AC Milan by some Galaxy fans, but many leaped to their feet with ecstatic cheers after he scored in the 80th minute.
The only true derby in Major League Soccer is contested by the Galaxy and Chivas USA every year, and has an individual trophy that was presented to the Galaxy for the second year in a row for winning the contest between the two squads.
They met three times in the regular season, with the Galaxy winning twice and drawing once - holding Chivas USA scoreless in all the matches.
