Donovan: No Move Until The End Of The Year
“It's nice to feel wanted,” admitted Landon Donovan of the interest shown in him by PSG, but the American won't be moving in the current transfer window.
CARSON, Calif.--Landon Donovan won't be moving to the French Ligue 1 with Paris-Saint Germain, or any other league for that matter, in the dwindling days of the summer transfer window. Rumors had circulated that PSG was interested in the American attacker, but Donovan brushed aside notions that he would be moving to the French capital in the upcoming days.
“There was some interest, but nothing, if anything, would happen until the end of the year,” Donovan told the assorted press after training with the Los Angeles Galaxy Friday. “I'm not thinking about it.”
The Galaxy has seven games left in a playoff hunt it looks increasingly likely to win. Donovan spent last winter on loan with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga during the Major League Soccer offseason. Any future move seems confined to the winter transfer window as well.
Previously this summer, Italian Serie A club Livorno was linked with a move for Donovan, as well as national teammate Ricardo Clark.
“It's nice to feel wanted,” Donovan said. “We all want to feel wanted, right?”
Unfortunately for the 27-year-old's European ambitions, MLS is one of the entities that wants America's marquee attacking player. His contract is set to expire at the end of this year, but the league can exercise a clause that will lengthen his current deal by two years.
The current window closes on August 31, two days after Donovan and the Galaxy take on Chivas USA in the Honda SuperClasico.
