Midfielder Tiyiselani Shipalane Loaned To D.C. United
With Thabiso Khumalo on the Disabled List, D.C. United has brought in Tiyiselani Shipalane on loan. Also, Luciano Emilio has received his green card.
D.C. United has acquired Tiyiselani Shipalane from the USL-2's Harrisburg City Islanders. The midfielder will help ease the absence of Thabiso “Boyzzz” Khumalo, who was put on the disabled list.
“We are pleased to be acquiring Tiyi on loan from Harrisburg for the rest of the 2009 season,” said general manager Dave Kasper. “He impressed us in the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals this year with his dynamic attacking qualities, and he will add solid cover for us in all competitions.”
Last year Shipalane was rookie of the year with six goals and six assists for the City Islanders helping earn him the award.
In other news for United, striker Luciano Emilio has received a green card. The designated player will no longer take up an international slot on D.C.'s roster.
