Goal.com MLS Rankings: Columbus Returns To The Summit
Columbus takes top spot in the weekly MLS rankings after extending its winning streak to five matches with a 2-0 win over FC Dallas on Saturday night.
2. Houston – The 0-0 draw at Real Salt Lake on Saturday night may not be scrapbook material, but it's another point for the Western Conference-leading Dynamo. (1)
3. Chicago – Impressive 2-0 win in Kansas City on Sunday afternoon came with a raft of players sitting at home watching. Maybe a bout of dressing room conflict is just what the Fire needed. (4)
4. Seattle – David Beckham presented this match on a platter with his rash tackle on Peter Vagenas early in the contest, but Sounders FC still had to score the two goals to seize it. (5)
5. Los Angeles – One unfortunate loss doesn't erase all the ground gained over the past six games. (3)
6. Toronto FC – The kiddie corps did their job against an off-kilter D.C. United on Saturday afternoon. Will the youngsters light a fire under the inconsistent veterans? (8)
7. Colorado – Colin Clark's ACL injury puts a damper on a bye week for the Rapids and leaves a massive gap on the left side of the park. (7)
8. D.C. United – Danger, danger, danger. (6)
9. Chivas USA – A 2-0 win in New York stems the bleeding, but the Goats step up to the varsity level starting next Sunday with this three-game slate in seven days: v. Toronto, @ Real Salt Lake, v. Los Angeles. (11)
10. New England – A bye week should ensure the Revs are rested for a tricky week ahead with Seattle at Qwest Field on Thursday night and Real Salt Lake at home on Sunday. (10)
11. Real Salt Lake – Finish, Robbie Findley, finish. (9)
12. FC Dallas – The Hoops aren't the first team to give up a set-piece goal to Columbus (that's three in three weeks for the Crew) and they certainly won't be the last. (12)
13. Kansas City – New coach, same old result. (13)
14. San Jose – Frank Yallop has to hope new central defender Fabio da Silva can ably plug the gaping chasm known as the Earthquakes' central defense. (14)
15. New York – Is the season over yet? (15)
