Fire Fine Hamlett And Soumare
The Chicago Fire passed out fines to their head coach and a star defender for a locker room altercation.
Chicago Fire head coach Denis Hamlett and defender Bakary Soumare were both fined by the club for an altercation during halftime of Chicago's 3-2 loss to Houston on August 9.
The scuffle resulted in Soumare being withdrawn from the match at the break. After the game the defender left to go train with Mali and has not been in training with the Fire this week.
“The locker room can get heated and we bring a lot of passion to our game days. Even when this happens, a line cannot be crossed," said Fire technical director, Frank Klopas said in a press release. "The team has moved past this incident regarding Denis and Bakary and our focus remains on bringing the MLS Cup back to Chicago this season.”
The team said that no further comments will be made about the incident and that the monetary amounts of the fines would not be disclosed.
