MLS Fines Chivas USA Coach Preki

Major League Soccer has fined Chivas USA head coach Preki $1,000.

The Major League Soccer disciplinary committee has fined Chivas USA head coach Preki $1,000 for inappropriately confronting the referee following his side's 3-1 loss to the Charleston Battery in the U.S. Open Cup. After seeing his side get knocked out on June 30, Preki approached the referee in a manner deemed against the rules by MLS.

The MLS disciplinary committee has been busy of late, fining LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham, Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Freddie Ljungberg, Real Salt Lake head coach Jason Kreis and now Preki in the matter of days.

The fines go to the US Soccer Foundation, which awards grants to soccer clubs and organizations that serve economically disadvantaged children in urban areas.
