Red Bulls Release Midfielder Khano Smith
Khano Smith’s tenure in New York didn’t last even a full season as the winger was cut on Thursday by the Red Bulls.
In his first season with the team, Khano Smith tried to make an impression with his pace and exciting play down the wing, but wasn’t able to do so and was subsequently cut by the Red Bulls on Thursday.
After three successful seasons with the New England Revolution, he was put on the unprotected list in the 2008 MLS Expansion draft and was selected by Seattle, but traded to New York before he even donned a green shirt.
This season with the Red Bulls didn’t go as planned, for club or player, and he appears to be the first of a few significant player changes coming for the team.
In eight appearances for the club, he wasn’t able to get on the scoresheet. A native of Paget, Bermuda, Smith has won 24 caps for his country, scoring seven times.
