Poll Results: Becks To Cause Galaxy To Miss Playoffs

The Goal.com readers have voted that the LA Galaxy will likely miss the playoffs once again in the wake of the background quibbles surrounding David Beckham.

Despite posting an impressive record of four wins and one draw out of the last five matches, two of the latest with David Beckham in the roster, voters in the Goal.com poll have indicated that the Los Angeles Galaxy will miss the playoffs for the fourth year running.

Goldenballs missed the first half of the Major League Soccer season during a protracted loan spell with AC Milan. Upon his return, he found a buzz of media attention surrounding him because of the release of Grant Wahl's book, The Beckham Experiment. In it, several Galaxy teammates questioned his loyalty, leadership, and professionalism.

Just shy of half the voters said that the issues and resentment towards  Beckham ran too deep and would cause the LA team to struggle in the second half of the season, denying any chance of a playoffs birth. Slightly over a fourth of voters thought that postseason play for LA was possible, but that it would rely more on the contributions of new additions. Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Chris Birchall has recently signed, and Alecko Eskandarian has two goals in his first three games with the club.

Exactly 25% said that the Galaxy would make the playoffs with the attacking talent on display overcoming any locker room squabbles.
