Two of Dominic Kinnear's most trusted players at the Houston Dynamo have had to bow out of the All-Star game against Everton this Wednesday. Striker Brian Ching will be given a rest following his time traveling with the United States national team which came in second in the Gold Cup. Goalkeeper Pat Onstad strained his back against the New England Revolution on the weekend.
They will be replaced by Chicago Fire defender Bakary Soumare and Chivas USA goalkeeper Zach Thornton.
23-year-old Soumare earned his first All-Star callup thanks to a series of impressive displays in the heart of Chicago's defense. For Thornton, this will be his sixth All-Star invite. He is second in the league in shutouts with seven and third in goals-against-average (0.88).
