VIDEO: Schmid Speaks After Sounders/Fire Clash
Seattle Sounders coach Sigi Schmid reacted after a testy encounter with the Chicago Fire resulted in two red cards.
SEATTLE, Washington -- As ever, the thousands of faithful Seattle fans came out to watch their squad take on one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, the Chicago Fire.
Though the action was exciting, with shots striking the frame of the goal and spectacular diving saves from both goalkeepers, neither team could break through for a goal.
Perhaps this frustration or maybe competitive verve boiling over contributed to the sending off of two players.
John Thorrington was the first to see red for a tackle from behind on Seattle star Freddie Ljungberg.
Ljungberg himself was then sent off in a different incident, after he earned a yellow card for simulation of a foul and then vehemently protested, doubling up his yellows with another for dissent.
After this turn of events, coach Sigi Schmid had his own opinion on the situation.
