RSL's Will Johnson Named As All-Star Replacement

Third Real Salt Lake All-Star fills in for injured Shalrie Joseph.

SANDY, Utah--Major League Soccer announced today that Real Salt Lake midfielder Will Johnson has been named as a replacement to the All-Star team for the injured Shalrie Joseph of New England.

The All-Star game takes placed next Wednesday at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. Johnson is the third player for the home team selected to the All-Star game, as the Canadian international joins teammates and fellow midfielders Javier Morales and Kyle Beckerman on the roster.

Johnson found out about the selection prior to tonight’s match against FC Dallas and was excited about the opportunity.

“A lot of times the things that I do well go unnoticed. It’s the little things," he said.”

Johnson also feels that it’s appropriate that the three Real Salt Lake players are from the midfield and indicated that teammate Clint Mathis was also deserving.

“At times the midfield has been unbelievable,” Johnson said.

Joseph will miss the match after a recent knee injury that reportedly worsened this week through training.
