Earthquakes Ink El Salvador Captain Ramon Sanchez
The El Salvador captain is coming to MLS with the San Jose Earthquakes.
The San Jose Earthquakes have announced the signing of El Salvador captain Ramon Sanchez. As per league policy, the details of the deal were not disclosed.
"There have been a number of successful players in Major League Soccer from El Salvador and we think that Ramon has the ability to make an impact here also," said General Manager John Doyle in a press release. "We were looking for a player to solidify the central midfield. He has experience playing that position in a number of important games for his country and we believe he can fill that role for us."
A veteran of El Salvador’s national team, Sanchez has been capped 52 times as a midfielder, scoring two goals in the process.
Sanchez, 27, has played in three CONCACAF Gold Cups for El Salvador, and has been a part of two World Cup qualifying campaigns with his native country.
His prior club teams were all El Salvador based, with his most recent stop being with Alianza F.C. In totaly, Sanchez has played 227 games in the Salvadorian first division, with four teams, scoring a total of 19 goals.
