Szetela Lands In Capital With D.C. United
Danny Szetela will join D.C. United, as the club won the player due to its position in the allocation rankings.

It's been two years since Danny Szetela played in Major League Soccer with the Columbus Crew. Now, after stints in La Liga, with Racing Santander, and Serie B, with Brescia Calcio, the hard-nosed midfielder is back, this time with D.C. United.
United acquired the 22-year-old through the allocation draft. FC Dallas, which sat atop the allocation rankings, decided to pass on the U.S. international, but D.C. didn't let him fall any lower than its second placed position. United now moves to the bottom of the allocation rankings.
"We are pleased that Danny has decided to return to MLS and that he is now part of D.C. United," said General Manager Dave Kasper. "He is a talented young player who now has some terrific international experience including two years playing in Italy and Spain, as well as all of his time at the U.S. Olympic, U-20 and U-17 National Team levels. Danny is very versatile and will compete for regular playing time in a number of spots on the field. We look forward to his future contributions to our club."
Able to play both central and right midfield, Szetela's all-action play could help ease the burden of Ben Olsen's persistent injury problems in the heart of midfield.
The 5'11 midfielder won't be eligable to play for D.C. until the receipt of his international transfer certificate, which is not expected to arrive in time for this weekend's game against the Colorado Rapids.
