Chivas Trade Eskandarian To Galaxy For Picks, Money
In a move to increase their flexibility with the roster, Chivas USA have sent Eskandarian across town to their rivals, The Galaxy.
In a move that was made official through a press release, Chivas USA have traded forward Alecko Eskandarian to the Los Angeles Galaxy for allocation money, and a conditional pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.
“This move allows us greater flexibility in terms of our roster and salary budget,” said Chivas USA Head Coach Preki. “We would like to thank Alecko for his contributions to our club. We wish him the best.”
The 26-year-old Eskandarian is becoming something of an MLS journeyman as the Galaxy will be his fifth club in six years. The move follows three seasons as a D.C. United player, one split between Toronto FC and Real Salt Lake, and a season-and-a-half with Chivas.
A native of Montvale, New Jersey, Eskandarian has scored 28 goals in his MLS career and has also been capped by the U.S. Men’s National Team on one occasion.
To make room for the striker, the Galaxy terminated the contract of midfielder Josh Tudela. The midfielder had appeared in nine games for LA this season.
