'Keeper Crayton To Leave D.C. United

Louis Crayton and D.C. United will part ways on June 30.

D.C. United and goalkeeper Louis Crayton will part ways June 30. The club chose not to exercise a clause in Crayton's contract to keep him in the capital city. Instead, the 31-year-old net-minder will leave after a year with the club.

"We'd like to thank Louis for his contributions to D.C. United, which included a U.S. Open Cup title," said D.C. United general manager Dave Kasper. "We wish him the best of luck in the future."

Crayton became excess to requirements mostly due to the excellent play of Josh Wicks. The former LA Galaxy goalie has cemented himself between the sticks for United with a series of scintillating performances.
