SuperLiga Preview: Chicago Fire

Goal.com takes a peek at SuperLiga contenders Chicago Fire.

MLS record: 5 wins, 6 draws, 3 losses
Leading scorer: Brian McBride, 6 goals
2008 SuperLiga: Did not participate
Key additions: Tim Ward, Baggio Husidic
Key losses: Diego Gutierrez, Stephen King

Update: The Chicago Fire was the last team to lose its unbeaten tag in the 2009 Major League Soccer season when it lost to FC Dallas in the 12th round. With very little turnover in the offseason, coach Denis Hamlett has used a veteran team to achieve steady results.

The offense is led by Mexican legend Cuauhtemoc Blanco, 36, and American legend Brian McBride, 37. It's an aging frontline, but one that knows all the tricks needed to unnerve and penetrate defenses. In the back, the towering Bakary Soumare and Wilman Conde form an imposing pair in central defense.

Largely considered the deepest roster in MLS, Chicago heads into its first taste of SuperLiga action ready to flaunt its full array of attacking talent.
