Toronto FC Release Johann Smith
Canada's Major League Soccer club has set the American striker free.
Toronto
FC announced Tuesday that they have waived forward Johann Smith.
The 22 year old joined the club on August 15, 2008 signing as a free agent.
Smith appeared in a total of 14 games, three of those as a starter. He compiled 418 minutes, and one assist.
As a young American, born to Jamaican parents, the Connecticut-raised Smith signed a contract with Bolton Wanderers when he was only 19.
After only a few appearances at Bolton, Smith was loaned to Carlisle United, then Darlington and Stockport County before being released in 2008 and joining Major League Soccer.
