Dynamo Acquire Weaver In Trade With ‘Quakes

Adding depth to their striking crew, the Dynamo have acquired Cam Weaver from the San Jose Earthquakes.

A press release from the two-time MLS Champions stated the team had acquired Cam Weaver from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for forward Chris Wondolowski and a conditional pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.

Weaver, 25, is in his first season with MLS after a year in USL and two years playing in Norway. His imposing 6-foot-4 frame will give the Dynamo valuable height up top and allow for a target man of sorts to slow the pace of matches, when necessary.

Going the other way is Wondolowski, who spent the 2005 season with the team he’s returning to, San Jose. He racked up 58 appearances for the Dynamo and has netted eight goals through all competitions.

Houston currently sit in second place in the Western Conference, while San Jose is suffering an off-year as they round out the bottom of the table.
