VIDEO: Galaxy's Donovan, Buddle On Late Goal, Draw
The Galaxy duo were the club's leading scorers last season, but this year Buddle has been injured and Donovan will be away for long stretches of national team duty.
CARSON, Calif -- The Los Angeles Galaxy pair of Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle were at the top of the league scoring charts last year, at #1 and #3, respectively.
However, the Galaxy's poor defensive showing shut the club out of the playoff picture.
This season, the club's defense is much improved and it is their offense that has sputtered at crucial times, partly due to an injury spell for Buddle. The Galaxy have only one loss all year in league play, but they also have only one win.
The startling number of draws has actually often been hard-earned by the Galaxy, as the team has scrapped and fought for late equalizing goals.
The odds seemed especially high, however, for such an outcome against the Wizards. Due to Gregg Berhalter's red card, the Galaxy played a man down from the 58th minute on.
The Wizards were finally able to capitalize on that advantage in the 84th minute, leaving the Galaxy precious little time to battle for a point. However, with a recovering Buddle subbed into the match, and combining well with Donovan, the Galaxy found a bit of magic and managed yet another tie.
