Cummins Appointed Interim Head Coach Of TFC
Following the shock resignation of John Carver, TFC have quickly appointed his replacement.
Chris Cummins has been awarded the position of interim head coach at Toronto FC following John Carver’s resignation.
The 37-year-old was formerly an assistant with the team and has been promoted to the top spot with fellow assistant Nick Dasovic taking over as Cummins’ number two.
“We are pleased to announce that Chris has accepted the role of interim head coach,” said director of soccer Mo Johnston of his new English manager. “After speaking with the coaching staff, we felt this was the best decision for the team moving forward. I want to thank all our coaches as it’s been a tough few days for all of us, however we’ve got a great group here and we’ll continue towards our goal of making the playoffs.”
Before joining TFC in May of 2008, Cummins was a Director of Football at Luton Town, a club in England’s third division. He also worked for Watford Football Club where he is best known for overseeing the development of current Aston Villa star and former Hornet, Ashley Young.
Dasovic also joined TFC in May of 2008 and was recently promoted from assistant with the first team reserves to second assistant with the first team. A native of Vancouver, Canada, Dasovic has made 62 appearances for the Canucks.
