VIDEO: Dragavon On Handling Fame And Pressure
A goalkeeper in Major League Soccer's emergency pool doesn't generally see much action, but Ben Dragavon was suddenly thrown into the fray after injury and a red card combined to give him his first MLS minutes.
Ben Dragavon was thrust into the limelight last weekend. With backup goalkeeper Chris Eylander injured, Dragavon sat the bench in Seattle Sounders FC's match against the Kansas City Wizards. When Kasey Keller was ejected in the 29th minute, the first red of the 40-year-old's career, Dragavon saw his first Major League Soccer minutes.
Together with a stringy defense that had yet to concede in the 2009 season, Dragavon helped keep the Wizards at bay until the 80 minute mark when a trademark Davy Arnaud blast provided the game's only goal.
"I had 150 text messages at least after that game," the MLS pool net-minder told Goal.com's John Zielonka.
