17-year-old Albert Lopez has won Sueño MLS 2009. The midfielder from Aurora, IL will receive an invitation to join the Chicago Fire Juniors.

Sueño MLS is a nationally televised event that chooses one winner to receive a youth contract. This year, 1,800 tried out in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and Chicago. The top 12 have spent the last four days training rigorously in LA.

“I was very nervous during the eliminations on the live show.  But I was very confident all week and felt I could win,” said Lopez.

In 2007, its inaugural year, Anaheim's Jorge Flores won a youth contract with Chivas USA. He broke into the senior team last season, scoring some crucial goals for the club from the left wing. In 2008, there were two winners: Briant Reyes for Chivas USA, and Gabriel Funes for FC Dallas.
