Goal.com MLS Rankings: Sounders Snatch Top Seed

In this week's Goal.com MLS Rankings, Kyle McCarthy gives the top spot to the league's newest team after three impressive performances in a row.

1. Seattle – Fantastic performance at BMO Field should quell the skeptics for now. Watching Freddie Ljungberg score his first MLS goal is just an added bonus. (3)
2. Chivas USA – They always seem to find a way. (2)
3. Chicago – If you tuned into this game late, you may not have noticed that the Fire played 76 minutes of this game with only ten men. (6)
4. New England – The scary thing for opposing teams: the Revs haven't come anywhere near hitting full stride despite picking up seven points in their first three games. (4)
5. Real Salt Lake – Columbus was dispatched rather easily, wouldn't you say? (7)
6. Toronto FC – “If you ask any of the lads, we're honest enough to admit we weren't at the races today,” TFC (and now former Welsh international) midfielder Carl Robinson told the Toronto Star after losing 2-0 to Seattle on Saturday afternoon. “We were well below par. It's disappointing because the occasion's been built up as our home opener and we failed to deliver.” (5)
7. Colorado – Watch out, Columbus. Conor Casey likes to score in bunches. (8)
8. Kansas City – Great diagonal ball by Herculez Gomez to set up Claudio Lopez for the killer second in Sunday's 2-0 win over San Jose. (12)

9. D.C. United – Probably deserved all three points against the Dynamo after not getting what they deserved in the first two weeks. (10)
10. Columbus – The Crew better hope that Chad Marshall recovers from the repeated elbows Atiba Harris threw his way. There isn't a ton of defensive depth in Columbus right now. (1)
11. San Jose – Dismal performance in dismal weather for the Quakes. Will have to respond next week at home to Chicago to show three-goal outburst against Houston was no aberration. (9)
12. Houston – Glad to see the Dynamo has cured its penchant for starting slowly. (11)
13. Los Angeles – “Let's not kid anybody,” Galaxy coach Bruce Arena said. “Our performance was terrible tonight. It started from the opening kickoff and it went throughout the match. There were an incredible number of mental mistakes. I'm embarrassed for our fans and for our organization and that's what I told our team. There are no excuses for some of the goals we gave up tonight.” (13)
14. FC Dallas – Another quasi-decent performance, another loss. (15)
15. New York
– Three matches, three pretty darn poor performances. Time for the reinforcements to get on the field. (14)
