VIDEO: Rapids Coach Smith Reflects On Win
Colorado Rapids coach Gary Smith believed his team took advantage of opportunities to defeat the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Soft-spoken Gary Smith is in his first full season as head coach of the Colorado Rapids, yet he has the team off to one of its best starts in history.
The former Fulham FC player retired early due to injury, then spent part of his coaching career serving Arsenal as a scout.
Perhaps this habit of assessing players stayed with Smith, as even after his team pulled out a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy, the Colorado coach game more observations on the opponent's play than his own team's performance. It might be easier to be gracious in victory, but Smith commended the fight the Galaxy presented.
