Sounders' Montero Under Police Investigation
The star striker has come under some hard times following his breakthrough start to the season.
Seattle Sounders forward Fredy Montero is currently under investigation by the King’s County Sheriff’s office in Seattle following reports from a woman saying the Colombian was stalking her, as stated on seattlepi.com
According to the report filed with the law enforcement office, the 23-year-old woman feared for her life as she saw Montero watching her from a car outside her home in Sammamish, Washington. There was also a claim that Montero previously sexually assaulted the woman, an incident that was reported back on March 22.
"We have a case number, and it's an open investigation," said Bellevue Police Department (where the original assault charge was filed) spokesman Greg Grannis. "It has not gotten far enough to where charges were filed yet."
Montero did not travel with his team to play Toronto on Saturday, but according to a team representative it was due to an illness the 21-year-old is suffering.
In the season’s first month, Montero was named Major League Soccer’s best player, having scored three goals in the Sounders' first two matches, which were also his first in MLS.
He was acquired from Colombia's Deportivo Cali in January.
