Hartman Breaks MLS Saves Record in KC Loss To Colorado
Colorado beat Kansas City 2-1, but Wizards 'keeper Kevin Hartman set the all-time MLS record for saves.
Kansas City Wizards goalkeeper Kevin Hartman claimed his third major Major League Soccer goalkeeping record in a 2-1 loss to the Colorado Rapids.
Hartman overtook Tony Meola for most MLS saves, having already owned the record for wins and shutouts. He now has 1,137 career saves, 138 wins, and 77 shutouts.
The game, however, went the way of the Colorado Rapids.
Substitute Terry Cooke opened the scoring in the 65th minute, as the midfielder took the pitch just a minute before netting a free kick.
Kansas City hit back through rookie Michael Kraus. Kraus himself was a substitute, and had only been on the pitch for two minutes.
The Rapids won the game in the 74th minute when Colin Clark cut back diagonally for the onrushing Omar Cummings, who found the inside of the left post from 18 yards out.
The game ended 2-1 in favor of the hosts.
