With only 13 Major League Soccer games possible for David Beckham to play once he returns to the Los Angeles Galaxy from his extended Milan loan this summer, he might be considered an automatic starter, even if the Galaxy are playing well without him.
The Galaxy's new captain, Landon Donovan, has reclaimed the armband he handed off to Beckham two years ago.
In an exclusive interview with Goal.com's Andrea Canales, Donovan stated that he did believe Bruce Arena was the sort of coach who would withstand corporate pressure if needed and bench Beckham for the good of the team if the circumstances called for it.
Now, what sort of situation would lead to a player of Beckham's caliber sitting on the sidelines of MLS after his triumphant run in Serie A?
Donovan pointed out that it would all come down to Beckham's commitment to the Galaxy. That hasn't seemed as strong as it once did before Beckham left on his Milan loan deal.
