VIDEO: Don Garber Speaks On MLS At Sounders Debut

During the historic opening game of the Seattle Sounders versus New York Red Bulls, Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber spoke with the press on a variety of issues.

Major League Soccer's head honcho Don Garber was coy on the news of Portland being the latest city to win an MLS expansion franchise, but he gave statements on a number of other league topics during halftime of the opening game of the season.

It was a historic matchup, as the Seattle Sounders were making a triumphant debut against Red Bull New York. The Sounders defeated New York 3-0.

What clearly amazed Garber, though, was the thousands of delirious fans cheering their new team on to victory.

Garber took time out to address the press that had gathered for the match.

The commissioner touched on how far the league had advanced since it was first launched in 1996, the Northwest rivalry between the new teams, and future plans for the league.
