VIDEO: Landon Donovan Discusses Los Angeles Return
Landon Donovan spoke in a press conference about his loan experience with Bayern Munich and his thoughts heading into the 2009 MLS season with the LA Galaxy. Watch video of his thoughts on Goal.com.
In a press conference with Los Angeles Galaxy head coach and general manager Bruce Arena, star striker Landon Donovan spoke about his return to Major League Soccer.
At the end of last season, the USA's top international goalscorer declared that he was ready to try his luck abroad. A move to German giants Bayern Munich materialized, but only as a loan deal.
Donovan scored four goals in five games in friendlies before the Bundesliga resumed, but failed to get off the score sheet in league play. That, combined with apparent concerns over his age--27--by club management, led to no permanent deal being offered. As such, Donovan has returned to his hometown club, the Galaxy.
Last year's MLS golden boot winner declared himself "excited" to be back Stateside. According to Donovan, his experience abroad made him, "appreciate having people you're familiar with, comfortable with, enjoy being around," surrounding him once more.
