D.C. United Acquire GK Josh Wicks From LA

D.C. United have acquired goalkeeper Josh Wicks from the Los Angeles Galaxy for a conditional 2010 draft pick.

Changes continue in Los Angeles as Galaxy general manager and head coach Bruce Arena ships out the main culprits of LA's league-worst defense of last year. The club have dealt goalkeeper Josh Wicks to D.C. United.

The move comes a week after the Galaxy waived five players, including last season's starting goalkeeper Steve Cronin and defenders Mike Randolph and Troy Roberts.

"Josh has a lot of qualities that we are excited about," said United General Manager Dave Kasper. "He is extremely athletic, is a good organizer, and has a big presence in goal. We look forward to what he can bring to our club in the future."

The 25-year-old was the 2007 USL-1 goalie of the year is expected to provide cover for starting 'keeper Louis Crayton, in the wake of the retirement of Zach Wells.

United have sent a conditional 2010 draft pick to Los Angeles in return for the German net-minder.
