The American club want to limit the midfielder's travelling upon his return in order to make the most of his services.

According to a report in the British tabloid The Sun, David Beckham has been asked to opt out of England friendlies when he returns to LA Galaxy in the summer.

The American club recently agreed a deal with Milan that will see the England international remain on loan with the Italian giants until June.

The 33-year-old is due to play in only 13 of the Galaxy's 30 MLS fixtures in the upcoming season.

In order to make the most of their prized asset, manager Bruce Arena is set to plead with the former Real Madrid and Manchester United midfielder to miss out on England's friendlies with Holland on August 12 and Slovenia on September 5.

I'd certainly request that David not be called in for that friendly," said Arena in a conference call with the media. "For a friendly in August, I'd like to see that David stays in LA. At the appropriate time, I'll discuss this with David as well as the English FA."

"David’s happy to come back and his addition will be positive for us."
